New Jersey 88 Orlando 104 Lose
We're standing by our position that this Orlando team will need some time to get used to their new system. You don't just up and change the guts of a machine and expect things to fall right into place... basketball has asmuch to do with timing and fine tuningas it does talent. Don't read too far into the Magics two recent wins against San Antonio & Boston... sure it's a great feat to beat the two best teams in the league back to back, but both the Spurs &Celtics were playing way above average and both were due to come back down to earth and Orlando just happened to be there at the right time.
Tonight Orlando travels to New Jersey and should be up to their ears in snow... not the most pleasant of conditions to be dealing with... And remember, while the Magic was taking care of business at home beating the league's elite over the holiday, Jersey has been home and idle since Thursday... four days of rest.
Oklahoma City -1.5/ Dallas 8:05 ET 2.00 Units
Oklahoma City 93 Dallas 103 Lose
Very soft line here due to the recent play of Dallas (23-5 on the season and winners of 16 of their last 17 SU: 12-5 ATS). The last two meetings of these teams in OKC had lines of -4 & -4.5. Three points is a bit much of an adjustment.... This is a very tough Thunder team that has played Dallas very tough throughout the years and will surely be up for the task tonight as they will be looking to avenge last month's 103-111 home loss to these Mavs. Dallas will certainly lose more than 5 games this season, and this is as prime a spot for a loss as any....

Despite Orlando's blowout of the Spurs Thursday night 123-101), it's still going to take some time for the Magic to come together as a team since their recent blockbuster 8 player multi-team trade. We look for the Celtics to continue their dominance as they catch Orlando in transition.
Miami +3/ LA Lakers 5:00 ET 2.00 Units
Miami 96 LA Lakers 80 Winner
Perhaps a sneak peak ahead to June and the NBA Finals, this is by far the marquee NBA game of the day. No doubt Miami has hit stride winning 13 of their last 14 SU going 10-3 ATS during that run. Not taking anything away from LA, but got to side with the road team getting points here as Miami seems to be on a mission. On paper this is an unbelievable team and LeBron is playing some incredible ball. It's going to take some time (as it always does) for the line makers to catch up.

We went against the Heat on Saturday with Washington +12 in Washington. We hated to do it, as we're the first to tell you that Miami has found their groove as the "Big Three" are finally gelling. This is going to be a special team... perhaps the start of one of the greatest teams of all time. But even the greats have flat spots in the schedule, and Saturday was one of them. Miami just got done playing two very emotional games... Wednesday (12/15) wasMiami's rematch with Cleveland at home after the Heat buried the Cav's earlier in the month in LeBron's return to his former gym, and then Friday it was on to Madison Square Garden to face the Knicks and their pissed off fans for "The King" not choosing to play in New York, and it was another burial (113-91). So Saturday, with Miami laying 12 points on the road the very next night and with a date with the red hot Mavs on deck followed by a mini holiday road trip to Phoenix & the Lakers, we just couldn't see them getting up at all for lowly Washington... and they didn't! (He Heat barely escaped with a one point win) So tonight is a very big test for this new team... these are the games Miami must win and win convincingly to send a message to the rest of the league that this Heat team is for real. Look for Miami to roll at home with another huge game from the Big Three...
Minnesota +4.5/ LA Clippers 10:35 ET 1.50 Units
Minnesota 90 LA Clippers 113 Lose
Clippers' first game home afterthree games in four nights on the road winning in Detroit on Friday (109-88) & winning in Chicago on Saturday (100-99 as 9 point dogs!). Perfect letdown spot for LA as they also shot way above average in those 2 road wins (57% & 51%). When average teams shoot like this, it is almost always followed by a game or two of off shooting.
Sure, Minnesota has been on the road forever as tonight is their 6th (and last) game on this road trip which started on 12/11, but the Wolves have been playing great ball. No matter win or lose, you get a full effort every night from this team... there is no quit in them which reflects in their recent play covering their last three. And with such an enthusiastic young team, the time on the road can only add to the bonding process as they are without the distractions of the home life. Look for Minnesota to end their trip tonight with a much deserved road win.

Tough stretch for the Celtics as they're playing back to back on the road. Sunday Boston lost at Toronto after losing Friday at home to the Thunder, and tonight, after travelling from Canada (having to pass through customs) last night, play the Hawks. Now it's not so much the fact of back to back road games, as this is commonplace in the NBA, rather it's the fact of the venues. Toronto and Atlanta aretwo of the most popular night life spots for travelling NBA players. Remember, Boston got into Toronto Saturday night for their Sunday afternoon game and surely went out on the town, then flew to Atlanta (strip club capital of America)last night arriving most likely right around 10 pm local time... just in time to hit the town again. We look for the Hawks (off yesterday and home since 11/17)to take full advantage of the tired, slightly out of sorts, Celtics...

Minnesota 107 Oklahoma City 117 Lose
If there ever was a look ahead spot in the NBA, this is it. Of course talent-wise, the Thunder most certainly can blow out the T'Wolves, but we can't see a single reason that they would want to or try to in this spot...
First, this is the 5th game in 8 days for the Thunder, and it was no easy stretch. On the 15th they travelled to Utah and were responsible for snapping the Jazz' 5 game winning streak where Utah set a record for most come from behind wins after trailing by at least10 points in the 4th quarter. Then the Thunder blew out Houston 11/17 before taking to the road after 1 days rest for back to back road games at Boston & Milwaukee: 2 more outright wins as dogs of +9 & +5.5 (and held Boston to 84 & Milwaukee to just 84). It takes much more energy to play defense than offense.
So now, after just one day of rest. OKC is home to face Minnesota... a solid up and coming team that has been known to give their all despite being amongst the bottom feeders of the league... record wise. AND the Thunder have a date with the Mavs at home on Wednesday followed by Thanksgiving plans and preparation for Thursday (since they'll be home for the holiday) before taking to the road again on Friday.
With all these goings on, we can't see the Thunder paying any attention to this spot on the schedule... Look for an easy cover here with a legit chance for the Wolves to catch the Thunder napping and stealing a rare road win.

The way we're playing it, we're getting a BETTER payoff (+1.93 Units instead of +1.82 Units for our 2 Units risked) AND an extra 4.5 points on the Orlando portion of the parlay/teaser.

These are the spots we wait for in the NBA... when a team has the entire betting public under their spell and their following will do anything they say when under the ether, including backing them getting a fat 9 points despite tonight's road game in Orlando being the second of a back to back and the teams 5th game in seven days.To besuccessful when handicapping the NBA, you must first understand the league and it's sometimes grueling demands. Basketball is a very draining sport, which is why the scheduling aspect must be given proper attention, such as is the case here. We can't see the Hawks having much left in the tank. While Atlanta was doing battle with the Suns yesterday afternoon (and losing their first game of the season), the Magic were relaxing at home. You can be sure that the Magic will be up for this game because despite their 4-1 record, this is only their second "real" opponent, the first being the Heat in Miami back on 10/29 in an embarrassment (70-96). Also, when an NBA team is flying high as the Hawks were to open the season (winning their first 6 games),and that inevitable bump in the road comes, it's so often the sign of things to come.

Another favorable scheduling spot here as the Suns were in Atlanta yesterday afternoon while the Grizzlies were resting. Not that that alone is reason for playing, but also the fact that Phoenix shot 56% from the floor in Atlanta. Above average shooting nights are so often followed by sub par shooting nights, and it took 56% to win by only 4.

Minnesota +9.5/ Oklahoma City 8:05 ET 2.00 Units
